GENERIC NAME:
Psoriol
COMPOSITION:
Each 1g Ointment, or 1ml External Solution contains 50mg Calcipotriol.
INDICATIONS:
Psoriol is indicated for the topical treatment of mild to moderate plaque psoriasis.
MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Calcipotriol is a new vitamin D derivative with high affinity binding to the cellular receptor. Psoriol regulates cellular growth by inhibition of cell proliferation and induction of cell differentiation.
The therapeutic effect of Psoriol is believed to involve inhibition of keratinocyte proliferation and increased maturation of keratinocytes. In addition Psoriol may interfere with specific immunological mediators thought to play a role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis.
USAGE:
Apply Psoriol to the affected area twice daily (morning and evening). Maximum weekly dose should not exceed 100g of ointment and 60ml of external solution. A course of treatment should not last longer than 6 weeks.
When Psoriol ointment used together with Psoriol external solution, the total dose of calcipotriol should not exceed 5mg per week.
SIDE – EFFECTS:
It may occur: Transient local irritation, reversible elevation of serum calcium, and rarely facial or perioral dermatitis.
CONTRA – INDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity to the drug, in patients with known disorders of calcium metabolism.
USE IN PREGNANCY OR LACTATION:
Safety for use during pregnancy or lactation has not yet been established.
